British Comedy Guide

Best sitcom Page 2

Another vote for Miranda.

That have had new eps in the last two or three years:

30 Rock
Peep Show
Parks And Rec
IT Crowd
Better Off Ted
Modern Family
Louie
Eastbound And Down
Curb Your Enthusiasm

This is the British sitcoms forum (as opposed to Foreign Comedy), so we should be keeping to British shows if possible.

It would be a very short list if we did.

Well it does only need to be one name!

Rev but I think it's because I know a Bishop who operates in a very similar way to the Archdeacon.

Are we allowed radio as well please Griff?

If so, Cabin Pressure.

Good call Griff. I think that often radio doesn't get the recognition it should as everyone focuses on the visual medium. Maybe I'm not the average but I do listen to the radio far more frequently than I can be induced to sit in front of either a TV or a computer.
I would say that possibly radio's been stronger in recent years but that's more about the completely abysmal state of TV comedy in recent memory than radio producing any classics.

League of Gentlemen.
Outnumbered.
Rev.

League of Gentlemen.

That's old (-ish)!

I don't care!
I'm counting it as recent. As compared to Steptoe or the like, it is.

In geological terms, Steptoe is pretty recent.

In geological terms, your mum.

Outnumbered, Bleak Expectations, Cabin Pressure - all fantastic suggestions.

And just to show we aren't all hate-filled obsessives, let's celebrate the best sitcoms of recent times.

I'll start with

Peep Show
The Thick Of It
The Inbetweeners

Pretty much this.

Yes for radio I'd have to vote for Ed Reardon, Bleak Expectations and Count Arthur Strong. Radio's been just as strong as telly in recent years IMHO. (I like Cabin Pressure too but not quite enough for 'best'.)

:) Love them all, and Fags, Mags And Bags too.

First time listening to Simon Day's new radio programme. Very funny. Bravo, he didn't seem that entertaining in The Fast Show.
