Blackpool Comedy night, Wednesdays from late May

I've found myself as the compere and general gopher for a comedy night in Blackpool. The first night is looking like the 25th and I've been given the small task of the entire digital marketing campaign, acquiring the talent pool and everything but booking the main event for the first night.

Long story short I'm a little inundated here, I need a list of names who are up for a laugh (pun entirely unintentional) and fancy coming and showcasing new material, polishing old routines or generally messing about. Mostly looking toward up and comers, or underground talent at the moment.

At least for the first couple of weeks this is likely to be unpaid, a few beers and some exposure: a write up in the local paper, one on the facebook page, one on our blog.

We may start recording in the near future so if you're looking to pad out your portfolio and show people how you roll this could be the thing for you.

So yeah there we are, anyone who wants to get in contact please do so, either in this thread or via PM.

Well this is exactly the response I've had everywhere I've looked, it seems to be pretty difficult to scare up a talent pool in Blackpool, everyone is either not confident enough in their material or ridiculous distances away.

3 weeks and I reckon this is going to be a one man one night show starring myself the way things are going, we don't even have a headliner yet. Oh well.

I'll head line if you pay my train fare (will find the cheapest route from London)

As I say in the OP booking the headliner is pretty much the only part I'm not in charge of. So there's very little I can do in this regard, which is kind of pants really but I've got no budget at all, just the internet.

Have you posted this on the Manchester comedy forum yet? That's where you'll get your best response I'd imagine.

I'd probably avoid saying it's offering exposure unless you can offer progression or guarantee other promoters will be in the audience. You're offering stage time really.

There are a surprising number of acts in the North West- you just need to know where to ask.

Blackpool is a bit of a treck for a non driver on a wednesday night unfortunately If it were a weekend I might have been able to orchestrate a car load- but very difficult for a week night.

It's worth popping it up on North East Comedy Forum too- you might find people who don't have morning jobs. Thoughthat's a much quieter place than MCF- more of friend circle than actual industry forum.

Would be interested,when and where ? How many minutes ? Does booing and get off you moron count towards those minutes ?
