I think he's just making that up. I doubt he really hates Michael McIntyre either.

Anyway, my hall of famers would be:

Stewart Lee
Woody Allen
Frank "The Cuff" Skinner
Jim Jefferies
Todd Barry's Medium Energy album is one of the funniest I've ever heard, but I've not heard any of his other stuff.

If McIntyre had not been so successful so quickly he'd not be 'hated' by many people at all. Good on him, I say. Strike while the iron is hot.

Didn't realise you were such an Allen fan, I shall have to look into this Todd Barry, never heard of him.

Everyone should hear the moose story at least once!

I've been getting into Patton Oswalt recently; through this album:

I don't hate him for being successful. I hate him for working on reality TV and those god-awful talent shows.

Fair enough, but there strikes me as being a lot of jealousy from other comedians.....even before the reality TV gubbins.

I dare say it's something to do with the speed he went from unknown to just about the most popular and famous stand up in the country. Even someone like Peter Kay seemed to have a more steady build in popularity.

I would agree with that. First of all he had That Peter Kay Thing which was a Comedy Lab pilot, which was followed by a six-part series. It was from that which Phoenix Nights was created and his career began to become big.

If you're good enough, you're old enough.....

Billy Connelly.
Eddie Murphy.
Bill Hicks.
Chris Rock.
Richard Pryor.

Pasquale.

I imagine many won't know who she is, I know I'd barely heard of her until recently, but there's this American comedian called Maria Bamford that I've been getting into. I bought one of her albums, Unwanted Thoughts Syndrome, and I've been listening to it a lot.

Well worth buying!
