The Comedian Hall Of Fame

As a companion to the Hall Of Shame thread, here's a more positive take; who are the stand up comedians that really do it for you, past and present??

Here's a few for me:

Steve Martin

Especially his Lets Get Small album.

Louis CK

Pumps out an entirely new hour show every year, a brilliant comic.

Eddie Izzard

Definite Article in particular. I used to watch his stuff over and over in the nineties.

Stewart Lee

Smart, fearless, funny.

I've heard plenty of good stuff about Patton Oswalt too, and I've just bought one of his albums to have a listen.

Peter Kay is my favourite. Then probably Bill Hicks.

Not a massive stand-up fan but I also like Ross Noble, Woody Allen, Ricky Gervais, Stewart Lee...and Lee Evans isn't too bad.

Off the top of my head... Sootyj, Steve Sunshine and Nil Putters.

Okay.

Why? Do they stand-up while they type?!

Is Milton Jones classed as a stand-up?

Very funny chap.

He does perform as a stand up, so I imagine so! :P

I'm a massive fan of Ross Noble, then there's also Eddie Izzard and Jimmy Carr I'd put up there too. Of the very recently-known, Tim Minchin should be up there in a year or two as well.

Daniel Kitson and Ross Noble are my favourite stand-ups.

Frank Skinner has done some brilliant stand-up shows in his time.

Bill Cosby (pre Bill Cosby Show fame).

Jason Byrne!

Legend

Keep these suggestions coming! I'll add them to the Hall of Shame.

Frankie Boyle - awesome and awesome.

I'm not sure Stewart Lee would appprove of your choice of Eddie Izzard! Or is it just his faux improvisation he has a problem with?

Skinner.

Gervais.

Vine.

Connolly.

I think he was just joking. He deconstructs what he does himself as a comedian, and here he was pointing out another comedian's schtick; the illusion that he's making it all up as he goes along.

Maybe.

That was just my take anyway, maybe he hates him.
