'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' is complete shit

I am sick to death of seeing reruns of this pile of tosh, on 'Dave' 24 hours a day. It's awful. It was crap back when it was first broadcast, and it's even worse, now. It hasn't aged well AT ALL.

It's so cringe-worthingly bad. I feel embarrassed not just for the participants, but for the studio audience who are actually finding their stupid antics, funny. I just sit here and shake my head in disbelief that something so tame and cheesy is getting belly laughs and rolling-on-the-floor fits of laughter. These people are idiots. They're the type of people who find novelty Christmas socks, hilarious.

Also, if the people watching (the studio audience and people at home) honestly think that this is improvised, then they really are a bunch of big gullible bastards. If they'll believe that, they'll believe anything. It's obvious that the people in the audience shouting out things, have been planted there and told what to call out. I don't buy a second of it. Not that it makes any difference. Either way, it's simply not funny.

Don't even get me started on Mock The Week. Oh God. It's more toe-curling and cheesy than a severe case of in-grown toenails or something.

Oh god. Aaron's not going to like you.

And I disagree, WLIIA is quite amusing and watching them bounce off each other is entertaining. Sure Dave do overkill it, but I'm sure the general puplic are lapping it up.

Welcome to the forums.

Hello, hello, welcome!

Good to see some conflicting opinions on here for once. :)

Tell me you haven't been going to work wearing reindeer socks and snowman ties, with a big grin on your face.

Merry christmas!

Wrong.

Colin Mocherie and Ryan Styles, together, are pure magic. Look up the US version of Sound Effects - utterly brilliant.

It's inconsistent yeah - Caroline Quentin and Josie Lawerence are a bit shit, but with Fry, Merton, Slattery, Frost - it's a good watch.

Ew. No.

I love the UK version, and still enjoy watching the repeats on Dave.

Tony Slattery was great back then.

The US one is funny sometimes (it still has half the same people), but it doesn't make me laugh much.

I know this show is quite respected by comedy fans but I actually don't find it that amusing, they so obviously aren't improvising and have most bits set up before hand. But it does raise a laugh here and there.

The US version however is really awful. But it did inspire a really funny story on the Mr Show commentaries were David Cross got lost and wandered across onto the WLIIA set while they were filming and everyone was confused because they didn't know what was happening...and then I think Jay Johnstone said.."Did they suddenly have to start improvising?". :D

And in some games they very obviously are improvising.
Especially when the songs are complete crap.

In a good way.

I didn't realise that I liked Clive Anderson until I saw the US version.
I read recently that Ryan Styles won't perform in the UK because he is scared of flying. A shame if it's true, I'd love to see him.

I agree it hasn't aged well. When I first saw it, I found it very funny. But I was watching it on DAVE the other day and just didn't find it that funny. I'm not overly sure it is set up as sometimes they reall do die on their arse.

Hi - welcome to the site, big introduction!

I must admit I'm one of these people who watches this on Dave - admittedly because it's the only comedy that can be found at 7pm when I'm having my tea - but it does still make me laugh at times.

It does slightly grate on my that it is called 'WLIIA? UK' - because as great as people like Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles and Greg Proops are (and they are funny) - they're definitely not British.

Clive Anderson's bumbling and general over-enthusiasm for pressing the buzzer when people are still in the comic flow (something the producers have annoyingly carried through to Mock the Week) really pisses me off too.

But otherwise I think there's fun to be had from Whose Line - if nothing else, there's their fashion sense to laugh at!

And the audience too! Sitting there behind Clive in all their 80s splendour.
