Some are certainly worth bothering with.
As a published author, which would you rate?
I ask because I've plucked up courage and sent my 'Saturday Night' effort to a first timers. I think whatever the outcome, I'm going to get it finished and try for an agent.
Free competitions are always worth a punt. I'm more wary of ones asking for money.

Don't know about books. Is Saturday Night a novel then? THere is one for unpublished authors somewhere attached to a mainstream one, I will try and think?

Yep. Its the one that I stuck in the opening paragraphs threads a weeks back. There are another 190 or so pages that go with it.
If you can track anything down, I'd appreciate it.
In the short term, I'm tidying it up and am tentatively approaching a friend, whose opinion I trust, to read it.

You probably want about 70K words. 190 seems on the short side unless you haven't double spaced the type -which you should. There is a kinda competition thing called Authomity or something. Might be worth a look at.
