What is this song from??

The King Of Rock'n Roll Lyrics - Prefab Sprout - "Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque..." http://www.videoanni80.com/view/2270/prefab-sprout-the-king-of-rock-039-n-039-roll-1988-/

It's either from a slightly weird 80s film or a TV show. But since I heard it last night on the radio I can't think where the hell I know it from. All I can think of is Groundhog Day, but I'm not sure if that's because whatever sequence/bit of film it's from it repeats the chorus over n over again.

Help please.

The imdb says that song was on Peter's Friends...

Probably not the one you're thinking of though.

Love the band but have no idea where the song was used, sorry

No I don't think that's right.

All I can remember is that it's a repeating dream-sequence (or not) if it's from Groundhog Day where it just repeats. But I've searched every combination of search terms and returned nothing. Maybe it was one of my own dreams? Huh?

It does ring a bell. More like a TV show than a film though... Hmm.

Spaced?

It could be! That's the only other thing that has come up during search. But which part of Spaced?

Episode 2 'Gatherings', where they have a party. It's on Daisy's party tape.

Yes, but can you be more specific?

Cheers Dolly. Will check it out. :)

Oh yeahhh, she sings the wrong words to it or something. Only watched that one the other night...

It was track one, side one of a Maxell c90 cassette tape.

What's a cassette?

I remember hearing this song a lot in 1988 and sure enough ... Wikipedia ...

"The King of Rock 'n' Roll" is a single by the British rock group Prefab Sprout, released in 1988. It was the second single taken from their album of that year, From Langley Park to Memphis, and makes reference to a washed-up '50s star who is only remembered for his one hit novelty song, which is sung in the chorus. It remains as the band's biggest success in their native UK, where it reached #7 on the UK Singles Chart, and spent 10 weeks in the listings.[1]

Producer Thomas Dolby added a synth bass in the verses to mimic the sound of a bullfrog, tying them into the chorus.[2] The song's chorus, "Hot dog/Jumping frog/Albuquerque!" is supposed to be the song's character's sole claim to fame.[2]

The video is based on a film called "True Stories" I think written by David Byrne. But I don't think the song was featured in it,
