I've just seen... Page 157

Just caught up Curb. I know, I know. Genius! On second series now.

Edge of Darkness. Decent remake of the BBC TV series. And despite looking like Sid James nowadays, Mel Gibson is still very good at playing a man on the edge of madness.

I've just seen...a satelite going overhead.

Keep going! It's brilliant!

It is, but I have a soft spot for that first season when it was all so shiny and new.

Just watched Talking Funny, an HBO thing with Jerry Seinfeld, Louis CK, Chris Rock and Ricky Gervais sat around together talking about their comedy. Worth seeking out on the internet for a watch!

Watching this at the moment.

Wondering WTF Gervais is doing in the room.

Just seen P'Tang, Yang, Kipperbang. Not sure it lived up to its towering reputation but a very sweet film and Alison Steadman fantastic as ever. And two faces I was very surprised to see in a film from 1982 - Abigail Cruttenden from Benidorm who must have a portrait in an attic somewhere, and a young Mark Brailsford from The Treason Show who not only gave a great performance but didn't get his knob out. (Although he does get to do some jokes about wanking.)

He also played bloke in pub in Eastenders

Ah. Now it's over, I see Gervais had an exec producer credit. Explains.

Is that legendary in the no-one's-ever-heard-of-it-yet-alone-seen-it-but-it-stars-Alison-Steadman-so-it's-probably-a-slice-of-earthy-Northern-Miserablism sense of the word?

I watched it when it was first on, I think it was very early Channel 4 when they had all the red triangle stuff.

The other one I remember on Ch4 at the time was "Walter"
With Ian Mckellen playing the Mentally handicapped title character.

I'm a bit surprised you haven't heard of it, it always seems to get namechecked as one of the 'great' TV single plays like what they don't make anymore. (See also The Knowledge also written by Jack Rosenthal, or Nuts In May / Abigail's Party also starring Alison Steadman). It's not Northern miserablism. It's a school story set in a posh-ish London suburb just after the war. In some ways it reminds me of John Boorman's Hope And Glory. It's not the greatest film ever made but definitely worth a watch. Oh and there's no red triangles needed on this one it's all very chaste. (Realises this is the final nail in the coffin of selling this to Chip).

I'll, er, look out for it.

The Knowledge was a superb TV play, with a lovely performance from Nigel Hawthorne.

Oh don't BOTHER. Just stick to your X-Men films.

Not all of them! But some of them. TOP NOTCH! :D

Marc are you getting confused with X-Rated films again?

Before my time old bean. I did like The Wolverine recently! Or whatever it was called. Need a bigger TV though!

Oi, I have diverse tastes! I can enjoy the moronic blockbuster the Stotts enjoy, or the arthouse French flick the Griffs enjoy!

Someone should write a moronic arthouse French blockbuster. They'd clean up.

Dude, Where's My Escargot?
