Far too hot out in London, I was cooking as I walked around, so have retreated back to the cool pleasure of my front room.

Quote: TopBanana @ April 22 2011, 3:40 PM BSTWhere the heck does belly button fluff come from? I've just had a shower and am wearing a white shirt, yet I've got a big, f**k off chunk of blue fluff in there?
OMG.
I've never had belly button fluff before.
Tell this to the girl you're trying to woo. Winner.
Haha. It is the first time it has happened. I'll now be on the lookout for it. It won't beat me.
Robyn has been offered two jobs in the last two days, having not applied for any!
Woo!
What kind of jobs?
Both in shops. I am very confused.
Ha!
Would they be better than current job?
One of them called me yday out of the blue, so I didn't ask anything I should have - just said I'd get back to them. The other one is sadly 22 hours a week.
Need to bug my current boss tomorrow as she said I might get more hours in summer as someone has just left.
Jobs are most definitely more trouble than they're worth.
I am a bit confused and just like "Huh, what?! "

Take whichever one looks best for the development of your skills & career.
I'm baking a chocolate cake. It is the first time I've ever baked a cake. It's been in the oven for twenty minutes and it still looks like a brown splat.

Or pays more.

I have no clue if to take either. I was so shocked!

Is the oven hot enough? Did you use enough baking soda?

Have you removed said brown splat from the oven?
Twenty minutes sounds reasonable for a sponge type cake.
Tips for cakes. Things Ma Riley told me.
Ensure that temperature is correct and do adjust for fans. Make sure that fan oven does actually distribute heat evenly as they don't always.
Did you put the cake in the right size tin? Again, it will make a difference.
Did you use the right type of flour?
Did you open the door during cooking? That will pretty much always wreck a cake.
Apart from that hope it goes well.

Perhaps baking powder would be a better option. Baking soda is better for cleaning things.
