Just base a character on Marc P - that should mix things up a bit!
Mind you, if some characters are irredeemable, I'd have thought there'd be plenty of conflict...
As for making them too nice, you don't want them to be too one dimensional, as a rule I'd say.

I plot well, then sometimes the characters start to carry the plot too far, when it should actually be story driven. I think that on stage people want to hear what's happening, but on screen people want to see things happening. Conflict drives a story and I think I lack that at times.
