Gigs outside of London

Hi guys and gals,

Having taken on board your suggestions to try and gig outside of London as much as I can, please can some of you suggest some open mics that I should do that are outside of London but aren't too hard to get to.

I've Googled for Essex open mics and Kent open mics etc but either the searches have come up with London nights or they've just come up with music open mics. I know that I'm spoilt in London by having resources like Stand Up London etc but is there anything similar for the Home Counties etc.

Thanks in advance for your help,

TMITBH

Chortle is a good place to start- there are 8 billion people who have started threads in the industry noticeboard section on there asking for gigs- just do a search and find some of them :) Dont' start a thread over there thoguh, you'll be abused.

Cheers Nat. I shall head over there and see what I can find. Am doing alot of gigs in London at the moment but do want to spread my wings to see if I can fly. Ps. Well done on getting back on the gig circuit after your 2 month break, I do enjoy reading your blog.

Thanks TMITBH! By the looks of it you're probably best off looking at gigs in Essex and reading to start off with. There are a couple in Brighton as well by all accounts.

Hi,

I am new to both stand up and this website. A friend of mine arranges open mics in Kent, (mainly Thanet (around Margate) and is getting some good acts and audiences down, check out www.comedyisland.co.uk

Sign up for the Mirth Control weekly email and get your details on their diary room, also contact Alex Petty at Laughing Horse, they run gigs all across the South-East.

Hello :)

My gig in Maidstone, Kent is a very nice one and the acts and audience seem to love it.

The details are on facebook and can be found at www.atomic-comedy.com

Thanks

On a vaguely related note, I am thinking of extending the scope of standuplondon to include the Home Counties - there are already one or two gigs in the guide that aren't stricly in London, but pretty close (e.g. Har-Lolz, which is in Harlow).

Would I be right in thinking that there might be an appetite for that?
