Stewart Lee Page 14

These quotes come up on the home page of his website as well. Tony Cowards has got one in there as well. Particularly enjoyed somebody calling themselves 'Mr Cool, telling us that Stu is 'self-deluded'! And the one who referred to him as 'a small, sad man.'

It's addictive viewing.

I still love him.

Ha!

Let's see if I can get another quote on there...

Stewart Lee is not my cup of tea but if you want to book an up-and-coming comedian then check out www.tonycowards.co.uk

He's really got it in for you, Tony. Have you ever stolen his hat backstage or something?

Just as I thought, the final proof that no-one actually reads my posts.

I've never met him.

I'm sure he's a lovely man, I'd happily say "hello" to him and share a pint.

Just goes to show that you really have to be careful about expressing opinions on the internet, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about people taking quotes from forum discussions but I guess it's out there and perfectly free to be used in whatever way, seems a little mean though.

Unlike:

"a slightly embarrassing 40+ year old man ranting like a teenage student
activist whilst labouring "jokes" and being, what seems, almost deliberately
unfunny" Tony Cowards, comedy.co.uk"

;)

Do you feel weird that he's seen it, or weird that he's used it?

Coward's got his just desserts! :P

I guess that he's used it, but then it's a nice reversal on the usual practice of using good quotes for your publicity.

:)

I guess the thing that is a bit irritating, and this is my fault really, not his, is that what was said as a throwaway opinion (albeit on a public forum) has now been preserved in internet amber.

I guess I now know why so many people in comedy/entertainment are very reluctant to express an opinion on anything, lesson learnt.

The thing is, Tony, that public forums are just that. I applaud you for using your real identity in the first place and understand how easy it is to make an off the cuff remark, but when you make a comment in a place that's viewable by all you're ultimately accountable for it. In any case, the opinion you expressed was valid from your standpoint, so you shouldn't feel bad about it. Certainly Mr Lee isn't shy about expressing negative feelings toward fellow comics.

Cheers Mr Bussell, I certainly don't feel particularly bad about it, Mr Lee does very well, I note his TV show is back for a second series and I don't think the fact that I don't really enjoy his particular style of comedy will affect him.

My general rule is that I try not to say on the internet anything that I wouldn't be prepared to say to someone's face in a pub, now I must admit that I don't think I'd be quite so bold as to address Mr Lee with quite what I said on here but I would, if asked, express the same sentiments, although perhaps with a little more tact.

:)

I've met Tony Cowards and a very nice man he is. And he's very funny. But he's no Stewart Lee.

There you go, Tony. Put it on your poster ;)

'Share' a pint? That'd be a bit weird wouldn't it?
