As I keep saying voting changes almost nothing, it exists to prevent us ending up with a presidente for life.
Yes or No to the AV Vote? Page 4
I do not want politiicans to implement the policies they beleive in and support, I want them to implement the policies I believe in and support.
And I want a change from the bullshit soup, which is I why I will be voting YES, in the hope that it will force politicians to raise their game.
It'll just make them grub after other parties votes like a whore hungry LGV driver haunting the Midlands murder spots.
Quote: TopBanana @ April 7 2011, 1:09 PM BSTA huge amount of people have been asking for years for a referendum on our EU membership (amongst many other things)........and I am pro-Europe but would like to get an official reading of the country's opinion on it- not just what the Daily Mail tells us we think.
But, we are always told that referendums are too expensive, time costly and too difficult to arrange.
That is not why we do not have a referendum on the EU. Just be pleased that for once you have been allowed to express an opinion on something. There are some changes that should not happen without a referendum. The progressive surrender of sovereignty is one. The voting system is another.
Advocates of FPTP claim coalition governments allow minority parties too much power. Well if a referendum for this dogs breakfast of a system is the best Clegg could do then that's certainly not true.
I'm only voting for AV because it's not FPTP which comes from a time when over 90 per cent either voted Labour or Tory (and their National Liberal allies) and has no relevance now (even in 1951 Conservatives beat Labour despite polling less votes nationally so its was wonky even then).
AV does not reflect the modern plurality and a vote for anyone other than the three main parties is nearly always a wasted vote just like FPTP. If it had a top up or list element like London, Scotland and Germany it would at least reflect this.
I'm not keen on referendums they tend to simplify options and most people vote based on the judgement of the politicians they agree with. Whoever read the Maastricht Treaty for instance, certainly not the idiots ringing up Fivelive or Talksport calling for a referendum on 'Europe' (whatever that is).
Either way.....I won't be voting in the referendum.
The Nick Clegg Debacle has just about killed the interest I had in politics.
I want them all to die.
Or at least be interviewed by Phillip Schofield on their thoughts about The X Factor.

Good.
Who are the 'lebsbian fart powered turbines'?, never heard of that party, sound interesting though and maybe worth a vote.

And if you vote against AV you never will, or you may end up with them as God Emperor for life.
Has anyone read the leaflet that came through the door?
The one with quotes by famouses saying 'ooh it's a lovely idea, do vote for it'?

The one for Bombay Dreams? Their 'banquet' night is, apparently, "not to be missed".
Yes I get confused with leaflets?, how political are they?

You still have not explained the policey behind the statement you submited?.
Regarding the 'god Emperor', a classic sexist statement!, surely in your perfect voting regime, it would be a 'Godess Emperoress' for life?....

I nearly missed the toilet!
No for me. It seems so non-sensical to change it to this format.
Can someone please sum up the change to me in a few sentences as I can't be arsed looking into it. I promise to shower the one who shows me the light.
