I'M unsure?, maybe yes 1 box, no the other?.
Suppose we have to change voting system, howabout if you don't vote you get fined £50, people would express opinion then.
Yes or No to the AV Vote? Page 2
No.
Stupid waste of time and money if you ask me.
But as we are wasting time and money why don't they ask us another load of questions mainly along the theme of
WHy the **** can Wales and Scotland afford to have free prescriptions but us English folk have to pay Over seven quid. And don't even get me started on Scotland and student fees. I think now is time for an indepedance vote.
If AV gets through on a vote using the conventional voting system, isn't that a vindication of the existing system?

Thatcher funnily enough arranged the formula for how funds are distributed to the regions. Scotland and I think Wales get a percentage that isn't fully based on population.
It works out they get about 10% more tax revenue then England
Nope I don't know what AV is so I'll not bother.
It's a port on your telly
miss this vote and they'll take your scart lead next

I don't watch tele. So they can knock themselves out.

Well no, because there are only two outcomes. AV wouldn't work in that scenario, but it does work for our multi-party system.

Clever clogs!!

ROAR
If, as is the case in most constituencies, you want your vote to count for nothing, vote NO.
If you want no chance of any party other than Labour or Conservative forming a Government, no matter how usless or corrupt they become, vote NO.
If you want the party you traditionally vote for to be able to count on your vote, no matter how much they ignore your opinions, vote NO.
If all you care about is showing how angry you are with the LibDems for not exerting a more restraining influence on the Tories, vote NO.
If you want a majority Tory government at the next election, with the likes of John Redwood given a completely free hand to dismantle the welfare state, vote NO.
If you never want another chance to change the voting system in your lifetime, vote NO.
Easy.
Hooray!

Much like elections in most constituencies under the current system. But you are not voting on whether to have a referendum, so that is no reason to vote NO. The money is being spent anyway, so you may as well take the opportunity to express an opinion on the substance of the issue.
Quote: chipolata @ April 6 2011, 10:51 PM BSTI can't be bothered voting. It seems like only last year we were voting in a general election and now they expect us to go through all that rigmarole again.
Yes Heaven forbid that anything as trivial as changing the way the country is governed should drag you away from BCG for five minutes.
Quote: sootyj @ April 6 2011, 9:50 PM BSTstupid idea to let undeserving minority parties into government
Labour and Tory are also minority parties, as neither comes close to getting 50% of the vote, and even then most people do not so much vote for one as against the other. And they are pretty undeserving too. But yes lets ensure that the fear of the other lot getting in keeps us from voting for anyone with policies we might actually believe in.

Precisely.
Ok people have a childish faith in democracy.
Guess what it like most other systems of government is a failure.
In essence as 2-3 main parties get closer to power they compromise to the point of being nearly indestinguishable. Labour had been in real terms cutting funding for years before the Conservatives.
So all your doing is giving a nod of approval to a system of government.
This is massively, hugely important. It's how we avoid dictatorships or oligarchies.
AV or PR are dangerous because they allow immature, unpopular and disenfranchised parties into the system. Where a few single issue fanatics can hold the country to ransom. Just check out the disaster in Israeli and Australian democracy.
The issue is the small details. Both Labour and Conservtives were going to heavily privatise and cap spending. But the maybe 5-10% diference maybe the loss of Sure Start, prison places and 1000s of jobs.
If you want to have an influence. Join a party, vote in council elections, campaign. Even the safest seats can be lost if the will is there.

First they came for the AV socket and I didn't speak out because I didn't have a AV socket
Then they came for the scart socket and I didn't speak out because I didn't have a AV socket
Then they came for my wifi and there was nobody left to speak out for it,
