Yes,it's the low price point that'll makes the difference.
And word of mouth can be a powerful tool.
Currently with established publishing house charging as much for e-books as hard copy, a book at a dollar fifty sounds too cheap - therefore isn't held to be of any value which - in people's minds - reflects on the quality of the writing.
Once e-books are the norm for 'ordinary' fiction (it will happen) and the prices comes into line, the model will change out of all recognition.
