Cos it might be good, I suppose! And they like the sound of the description.
And they are usually extremely cheap (99 cents, sometimes).

I wouldn't personally pay for or read one, unless it was by or recommended by someone I knew and trusted to be a decent writer.

Yes,it's the low price point that'll makes the difference.
And word of mouth can be a powerful tool.
Currently with established publishing house charging as much for e-books as hard copy, a book at a dollar fifty sounds too cheap - therefore isn't held to be of any value which - in people's minds - reflects on the quality of the writing.

Once e-books are the norm for 'ordinary' fiction (it will happen) and the prices comes into line, the model will change out of all recognition.

Well anything might be good.

Exactly! Live a bit, Stott!

Pah, I'm not trawling through the daubings of people who can't get published!

I hope it doesn't put her off publishing her next novel, Cass. Here's her preview:

Living amidst the creme de la creme of Arabs in London, behind the scene, Madam Cass falls in love in Cairo, but then the head games begin with love triangles in Paris and a secret friendship blooms with the other woman, but for good enough reason. This is just the beginning as Cass experiences an explosion of psychic powers developing after a death experience plotted by the Arab Mafia who decide her fate. She is redeemed, born anew but she must walk back into the past with a vengance...

Suck it up people this is the future of literature. Once the publishing industry has been destroyed by mass piracy of e-books and there is no money for authors or editors or proofreaders, then there will only be books like this. But there'll be loads, and they'll be cheap.

Sure, but there will still be a sort of tier system, with the 'proper writers' being reviewed and recommended and all the chuff being mainly ignored.

It'll sort itself out somehow.
I don't believe that ebooks will take over from physical books, though. They'll coexist.

They'll coexist.

Like the human and the fish? Let's hope so.

Yes. We'll pop all the e-readers into the sea. They'll be fine.

I know a good seafaring tale... 5* review on Amazon...

Her mum could at least have used a fake name.

It'll just be the General, General thread in e-book form.

I was hoping for "What Does Your Piss Smell Like".

Maybe she'd been reading e.e.cummings. But you have a good point.

It had crossed my mind but then I remembered the video and decided that on balance she's probably no inkling that cummings ever existed.

There won't be any proper writers

By proper, I mean good; the ones who would have been properly published, as opposed to the possibly terrible, who would have published it themselves.

I'm amazed nobody has mentioned the title of this thread. I think I understand what it means but it seems to be worded rather oddly. Perhaps English isn't the OP's first language. Might I suggest "How an Author Should Not Behave"?
