I'm about to start writing a mock documentary and I have a few questions about the format that hopefully someone can clear up for me.
When writing a talking head scene, how do you script that? Like in the scene heading, would you write in the title that they're speaking to the camera or something?
Also, I know in a sitcom you're not supposed to put any direction in the script and leave that up to a director, but in a mockumentary I can't see how you can avoide it. In The Office for example, most of the laughs come from Brent's looks into the camera and the positioning of the camera. A scene that I'll be putting in my own will rely on the camera movements (zooms and quick switches between its focus) for it to work. I feel that if I don't include some direction a lot of the comedy might not come across.
If anyone has any advice it would help a lot.
Tony.
