Terry passes to Ferdinand. Bit scrappy but Ferdinand looks comfortable. ..Going forward... But he appears to be limping slightly... Ferdinand needs to pass... And he does so... Misses out Gerard... Straight to Lampard... Oh, good man. Really taking things on... working hard. But he's not going to go the distance and now its Cole. The pace is really hotting up now. Its difficult to keep track of where we are... Cole now passes to Barry... So many players getting a look in. And Terry, Terry is back in the mix. And as we prepare to kick off in this Euro 2012 qualifer, finally the captain's armband is back with John Terry.

Nice little ending, I liked it.

Very nice, could easily imagine this on Radio 4's "Look Away Now".

Although the story is very well known somehow I didn't see the punch coming until very near the end so you must be doing something right. Thumbs up from me. Only thought is maybe it needs to be a little bit shorter.

Lovely idea. As said, could just do with being a bit shorter. Something as simple as:

F/X: FOOTBALL MATCH ATMOS

England looking for options. And its Terry. Terry taking it on ... Terry to Ferdinand. Ferdinand to Gerrard. Now on to Lampard... Back to Ferdinand... Gerrard again. To Ferdinand, and now John Terry once more... so as Fabio Capello finally decides who should wear the captain's armband, the referee starts the match...

F/X: WHISTLE

That could easily play on Look Away Now. Trouble is, it's not on! Send to Newsrevue. Pronto!

Glad I found this little gem and brought it back to the fore ahead of the Ghana game tonight.

I thought I saw this coming, somehow, but didnt see the armband payoff.

Of course, it was topical when written.
