I Should Say So: The Story of Robb Wilton

Image

For me one of the finest comedians of the wartime era and without doubt master of the monologue Robb Wilton is a name you do not hear mentioned enough if at all and I often tell people about him whenever I can so that's why I thought I'll make a documentary showcasing his finest clips from the golden age of radio and the birth of television all introduced by yours truly I hope you enjoy it.

The documentary is in two parts with Part One being found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8itcxSKT-U and Part Two being found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXdy5vZToJA

Only line of his I know is 'The day war broke out my missus said to me, what are you going to do about it?'. Think it was something like that :)

I liked hearing the old clips.
But it felt a little bit like
'James Cotter presents a bit of Rob Wilton'
Rather than a normal documentary.
Most good documentaries I watch I never know the Narrator unless I check the credits.

Nice to see hear the clips though.

I can absolutely recommend this

And what's more, if you buy it from this link, Aaron can get some Ready Brek or muesli or summat !

:) Yeah that his most famous sketch. It's included in the documentary in it's entirety.

:) Glad you enjoyed the clips Robb is a genuis in my opinion.

As I say at the end of the doc "I'll let Robb have the last word". You could have had me wondering round in ego boasting way talking about how brilliant I am because I watched Robb stuff but I didn't want that I wanted to introduce people to Robb through his work with me linking the pieces and telling his story.

:) I've got this well worth the money.

On a technical note James, the next time you do something like it - I wouldn't film it in a corridor. It's not good for sound.

It's not in a corridor Marc but I will admit the sound isn't the greatest but the focus surely is on the clips.

There was just a lot of echo. Sound is half of a production to be fair. People never give it the importance it deserves when making short films etc.

There was just a lot of echo.

I included it for dramatic effect :P

:)

Great work James Cotter! One of the hardest working men in comedy today!

:D Thank you very much.

Nice little docu. But as enjoyable as the clips were, I would have liked to have heard a bit more factually about Robb and his life and work - felt like the 'documentary' side of things was rather skated over.

Interesting nonetheless.
