The Crooners Page 2

What about Tony Bennett? Still going, I believe.

He did some great covers of Contemporary songs in an old style.
Rock Swings I think it was called

Nobody's mentioned Robbie Williams. :|

Let's pretend you didn't!

I bloody love Adele.

Oh Yes!

I loved the recent Brit performance. What a gal, what a voice!

She's amaaaaazing. She even made herself cry a bit at the end!

That was Paul Anka.

I know coz I have the album.

Oh yes sorry my mistake
Great album though.

:) I sometimes like the old musicals for this type of music, Carousel', 'Porgy and Bess', 'Fiddler on the roof', some great tunes and nostalgia.

Richard "Getting On" Hawley is excellent. And for girl-crooner you can't beat Nancy Sinatra, who I guess has it in her genes.

I love Nancy Sinatra.

My favourite songs by her are, Summer Wine w/ Lee Hazlewood, On Broadway, Tony Rome, and she recorded a great version of the Eagles classic, Hotel California.

Another great crooner was Bobby Darin, he could have been the greatest had he not died so young.

Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood. Not what I would call crooners, but definitely a match made in Heaven.

Frank Sinatra (arranged by Nelson Riddle) from the mid-1950s would be my crooning choice. Particularly the albums In the Wee Small Hours and Songs For Swinging Lovers!.

Although not really a crooner, Del Shannon was great, especially Runaway. Pity he killed himself.

Peggy Lee just had a voice that could make any hot blooded male melt.

Same with Julie London, I have many LPS of Julie London and the LP covers were just sex on legs lol.

Sammy Davis Jnr...love his Mr Bojangles and Candy Man
