Sorry Anthrax, in that case just tell 'em to stuff it :P

Ha!

Yeah, it may seem odd, but I'm just being pragmatic about what the actual chances are. That's not to say I don't hope to smash those odds, just that facts are facts.

(No 'h' in the name, by the way...)

I'm glad I'm not holding my breath for an email.

Dan

Dan. Enough with the cookies.

Anybody else still waiting for an email either way? This is honest to God murder so it is.

Congrats' to everyone who is through to the next round. It'll be a great experience for those who go on further.

Although comps aren't the be all and end all, I think they are a good thing as they make you work to a deadline. As Dromedy is my thing (no more pictures from your camel collection Griff ;) ) I have decided to go down the theatre route. I woke up this morning with an idea that excites me (no it wasn't rude Angelic ) So next stop The Bruntwood Prize. Onwards and... er well a step sideways really.

Why is it dromedy and not dramedy?

I don't know. May it sounds too much like dramatic tragedy? Is suppose I could always have a go at cragedy or tromedy? Any suggestions you have for reinventing genre would be of interest :)

God how many typo's were in that post :$ Maybe that's why my script was rejected lol :$

I wasn't being arsey! As I am familiar with the term "dramedy" I genuinely wondered if "dromedy" was yet another genre I hadn't heard of, perhaps a Dramatic ROMantic comEDY or something.

I went to a presentation a while ago where someone spoke about "warmedy". :(

It's a real hugely succesful and profitable genre.

Think My Hero or All About Me. Or that God awful US one with the priest and the rabbi, or the Fresh Prince of Belair.

Basically a warm hearted, predictable sitcom where the idea is not challenge but to offer gently repative jokes and situation where everything is always resolved.

Shit as it sounds it's easy to write watched by millions, hits the religious fan base who won't watch comedy.

F**k it Sootyj is writing "It's nice to be nice with the Nices"

About a family of gospel singers call the Nice's who run a kitten retinue and have nice adventures.

Resists the urge to quote Griff and add amusing name for sex act before the above quote (not that anyone ever notices)

I do like the word. Like "Bio-hazard" "contagon" or "sterilising"

it warns me of the danger in an unequivocable manner.

Dromedy is Drama and Comedy. You've probably worked that out now so sorry if that sounded patronising; it's not meant to be. Never heard the expression warmedy before, but thanks for explaining it sootyj

It's usually called dramedy.

Traditionally followed by the expression "it's either an unfunny sitcom or an undramatic drama."

Why dramedy gets such a hard time when; Shameless, Auf Weiderstein Pet, Minder etc

are some of the best telly ever

Griff how goes the sequel to "The Sound of Music." "Sound of Music 2, the sound of laughter?"

What happens to the Von Trapp family singers?

. By the end of scene 2 they are all be bummed to death by serial killers wearing Terry Scott masks.

Novel I give you that, any nice songs?

This technical jargon is confusing me now. Maybe it's coz I'm blonde. I was thinking more along the lines of Life on Mars.

Not had an acceptance/rejection email yet. I'm sure they'll send me an email when they're done with my script. Probably suggesting that next year I print my script on softer, anus-friendly paper.

softer, anus-friendly paper.

Best description of the Daily Mirror I ever read.

Life On Mars wouldn't be called a dramedy; it's a drama, that, like a lot of great drama, is also funny.
