I'm thinking positive

I'm already working on next years entry about a falsely modest seceratary at a nuclear power plant.

Working title "Fission for compliments"

You shouldn't get too depressed about not doing well in these things. Past winners of similar competitions have hardly set the world on fire. And to my knowledge, the most "succesful" writer to ever be thrown up by a beeb competition is Susan Nickson. Whistling nnocently

I've still not received anything either way.

I will be honest and say I'd be bitterly disappointed if I wasn't in the top 100%...

Dan

Hey, at least we had a go.
The BBC will no doubt continue to churn out pre-watershed drivel that some already retained writer contemplated whether or not to wipe his arse with or submit for a laugh while we all sit at our keyboards wondering why our masterpieces didn't make the grade.
Don't take it personally just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming

I got a letter telling me I've won. Keep it to yourself though, I'm supposed to be keeping it a secret.

I'll take it to my grave

Well, not to your taste perhaps, but you can't deny she's been very successful. A sitcom running for ten year now.

Cigarettes are very succesful too.

I'd sell my Nan for that kind of success.

And I really like Nanny Ivy. :)

Yeah. You'd take her success in an instant. I can't stand her shows, but so would I.

Yeah. You'd take her success in an instant.

Of course I would (although I'd rather it be for a show that wasn't worthless doggeral). The point I'm making is that virtually every writer you admire didn't get their break through a writing competition.

These things are great, and the top five will have a whale of a time and have some great opportunities, but let's not get carried into thinking they're the be all and end all of comedy writing. Just like The X-Factor isn't the only way to break into the music industry, nor the talents it throws up necessarily the best.

The rejects on the X factor are the best bit about it anyway.

The last script I entered for a BBC writing comp received absolutely no feedback whatsoever. Not even a "Dear Gertrude Perkins... Get stuffed..."

That same script has got me meetings with producers and interest from agents. Believe me, I know they're not the be all and end all.

I've been wanting to submit something via the normal Writers Room avenues, but I'm not sure what I've written is quite the finished product yet. Always things to change or add.

It's a dark comedy too so got to get that tone (no pun intended :P) just right.

I'm currently writing a sci-fi drama which I was looking to submit to BBC writers room through the normal channels.
It would be nice to know where else I could submit it (no anatomical suggestions please)
