Back to Class (Radio Series)

Image

Academia runs amok in a brand new radio series from the pens of myself and my long term writing partner Dan Pearce. Almost two years after the filmed demo pilot we have reprised our roles as trapped college lectures Mark Rodgers (James Cotter) and Keith Aspin (Dan Pearce) who juggle the responsibility of lecturing a group of uninterested students and trying rescue there failing media careers under the spotlight of OFSTED inspections and fellow members of staff. Keith Aspin is a music teacher who's also a wannabe pop star while fellow lecturer turned former TV stunt man Mark Rodgers spends his days over disciplining students or telling yet another anecdote about his stunt man days.

Episode One - Money, Money, Money (Comic Relief Speical) Keith and Mark are battling it out to raise the most for Comic Relief but uninterested students, stolen goods, some Z-list celebrity friends and a lack of moral fibre gets in the way of the fundraising.

10p for every view will go to Comic Relief up to Friday 18th March 2011. You can also donate yourself via our official Red Nose day fundraising page

disinterested students

Disinterested means impartial, whereas you probably want to say "uninterested" - just in case any pedants are perusing your spiel.

Okay I'll change it. Did listen to the episode?

That I did. I even rewatched Part 1 of Thank You For the Music too. And of course Cotter Cast #14.

Well I'm not giving money for those two but thanks anyway. What do you think of the radio episode?

Precludes criticism that you and Dan are "too young" to be playing college staff.

It is a point we have actually addressed and a very fair point. The next episode will explain more of there back-story but you can tell already there hearts are not really in the lecturing. They both got there jobs because of people they know not what they know like a number of HE lectures especially in Media or other creative areas. There are lectures not that much older then us at a number of college and university's that I have attended or have been too.

Am finding the accent a bit hard to understand, to be honest.

Ditto. It also sounded like one voice all the time which was a bit of a turn-off. Sorry, but I rapidly lost interest.

Much improved on the video version. There's some real gags in there and pretty good ones. I quite liked the description of the failed school trip.

I think I'd give the characters a bit less exposition it's not neccesary. And you can rely abit more on the situ for comedy.
But this is well on it's way.

Really? What bits did you struggle with?

There were only two voices in it. Thanks for giving it a go though.

Probably the mockney hardman, it's a little bit Phil Mitchell with a throat sweet.

I think maybe if he's a distinctive character, give him a distinctive voice?
