I've been invited to do a few minutes stand-up at my local 6th form college and wonder what type of humour would be most appreciated by young people,so would like some advice from BSG members.
Should it pure filth? Two nuns and a donkey style, or the even dirtier version,Two donkeys and a nun.
What about religeous satire.
The Christian selling land mines disguised as prayer mats to Muslims,
apparently business is booming, prophets are going through the roof.
Or perhaps more academic.
After murdering his wife by chucking her into the shredder at his local paper mill,
The ancient Roman philosopher Hermeticus Sealicus was at once both happy and sad.
Happy because he'd never again have to listen to her complaining.
Sad because, once printed on, she'd have the last word, a sort of pulp fiction.
There is a glaring error in that joke, I wonder if the 6th formers will spot it.
What genre for 6th form college
Jokes about Facebook and Twitter.
If you want something generic that they're almost guaranteed to like.

They might think you're being a big racist and boo you off. Teenagers can be very overly PC. Gawd bless them.
I would go for pure filth I'm afraid.
Listen to Nat, she's out there doing it.
Don't listen to me. Ever. Plus my suggestion is the easy bet, it is easy to pull off but painfully unoriginal.
What the demographic for the local college? You feel a bit of a prat if there is a big ethnic cohort.
As Nat says it will be very pc and also think about gender balance. The blokes won't laugh if they think the women will be offended. Peer pressure. Miserable humourless bunch.
"Young people" are not a homogenous group, like any other demographic they all have different tastes and likings, you can make guesses at what they'll go with but in all honesty it's generally best to do what you do and if it's funny enough, they'll meet you half way.
Pandering to audiences is a very risky business, you end up with them being the leader and you being the follower, when it really should be the other way round, you're the one on stage with the microphone and the power, that's not to say that you shouldn't do any material tailored to them but you shouldn't cede the power to them.
Did the 6th form gig last evening. I was heckled to death. I'd forgotten how cruel
the young can be, but stuck it out (4mins) and got a standing ovation, apparently
not for my routine but my tenacity, also this advice;
If you can make it to Uni don't worry about tuition fees. when the time comes to pay them back, the mob that introduced them will have been booted out of office. The new mob will have gained office by promising to scrap them.
Thanks, you have been a wonderful audience.
