The mighty Lee Hazelwood's Poet, Fool or Bum album.
What are you listening to now? Page 827
Quote: catskillz @ March 5 2011, 10:52 AM GMTI recently discovered this fascinating website called whosampled.com which not only gives you the details of almost every song that's ever used samples, or ever been sampled, but it also lets you play the songs, telling you exactly where the samples appear. It's amazing to find out just how many samples are used in some song, and just how random some of the samples are.
Have you listened to either of the Girl Talk albums? They are basically entirely made up of samples, and people have spent ages picking out what is sampled and when.
Siouxsie & The Banshees - 'Christine'
Ahhh, we were a happy little bunch in the 1980s...
(TRIVIA: Robert Smith of The Cure used to play the bass for this lot.)
I loved Siouxsie Sioux, she was my fashion icon for years.
I can tell by eye makeup!

No, I haven't heard them. I'll check them out on www.whosampled.com
A lot of groups use samples. People think it's just a Hip hop thing, but even guitar bands like Oasis use them.
Anyway, today I've been listening to The Lonely Island: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLPZmPaHme07feature=channel_video.title
Panic! at the Disco - The Ballad of Mona Lisa
As I said in my post yesterday about www.whosampled.com some samples are really random, coming from really unlikely sources. It's especially funny when really aggressive Gangsta Rap songs are made using samples of stuff like cartoon themes: http://www.whosampled.com/sample/view/36684/Lord%20Finesse-You%20Know%20What%20I'm%About_Hoyt%20Curtain-The%20New%20Scooby-Doo%20Movies/
Or how about this: http://www.whosampled.com/sample/view/4030/Cypress%20Hill-Hand%20on%20the%20Pump-Gene%20Chandler-Duke%20of%20Earl/
just gonna play the free Beady Eye CD from yesterday's NOTW.
Elvis is Back (50th Anniversary Edition)

The Beady Eye album is really good, surprisingly.
Quote: Steve Sunshine @ March 3 2011, 11:50 PM GMTThat "Go Where You Wanna Go" song.
It was on some advert, So I looked for it and it was the Mama's & Papa's so it was.
I think that was one of their weakest songs.
Listening to All Woman compilation. Some really good stuff. Beverley Craven - Woman to woman.
A Libertines bootleg (Sticky Fingers, 2003)
New Noah And The Whale album.
