It's been at least 10 years since I last handed over cash to a clerk before I pumped my gas.
Stupid Libyans, I paid $2.95/gal yesterday morning and when I drove home 6 hours later the price was $3.15. (If I calculated correctly, that's 48p and 52p per liter.)

£6.85 a gallon or about $10 a gallon
I'm sure it was only about 37 PENCE per gallon when I bought my first car.
