It's also really nice having the luxury of working to someone else's outline. What happens next? I'll just check the info. Wish I could always do that!

I think she's equally adept at teaching everything, the classroom pic shows an eqquation on the board (maths), a large book (English), a globe (geography), a human anatomy poster (biology/genral science) etc - not what would happen for kids of this age, but a good 'device'. Then again maybe the teachers all share the same classroom...
As a first-time celtx user can anybody tell me how to check page counts, etc? I've found two ways to do it, but they're giving me different results (either my first scene is half a page too long, or it's exactly 3 pages...bit confused, although I confess that happens easily...)
I just normally go to (when you're on the Screenplay/Teleplay) Script > Format Options, then tick 'Pagination'.
Ah, I knew there'd be a simple answer, ta very muchly!
F**k. Celtx just crashed on me and I lost about 4 hours worth of work, f**kety f**k f**k. f**k.
Radiation: Thanks--that makes sense, and you're right about it being a good device. They don't have to have a huge cast of teachers.
Trabs: Does Celtx have an auto-save option? It crashed on me for some reason but I didn't lose any work. Having to start from scratch is a real pain in the arse.
Anyone else having trouble squeezing jokes into the space available? I'm going to do have to do some serious cutting...
I don't think so. I have tried everything in my limited knowledge to retreive it but nothing has worked. I have a lot of my ideas saved in word, so all is not totally lost.
Does no-one obsessively press 'Save' after every single change they do like I do? I mean, I never go out and don't have any friends but it's not all perks...
billwill might be able to help. PM him.

I do, since I lost 4000 words of a dissertation for not manually saving. The good news is that once you make a mistake like that you'll never let it happen again.

What was the dissertation on?
Flying pig-mice and their plans of Martian rebellion or something...

Yup. But then I have a Cat who likes sitting on my keyboard. One time he managed to switch off my PC and I still can't work out how
Just got an email from Mike Booth and he confirms what Radiation speculated:-
"Ms Henderson can teach anything, and she does call the kids by their nicknames. We're not massively constrained by realism in this series."
End newsflash.

He must have hit the "paws" button by accident.

Celtx: regrettably I have merely had one quick try with it, to see what it is, but I know no details at all. I seem to recall that it keeps the scripts in a dialogue-by-dialogue database and generates the script on thr fly from that.
If there is a stored file, even if it is mangled your best bet is to contact the CeltX software authors.
If the file is gone, you would first need to try the various Undelete type programs, however if you continued USING the computer after the crash, regrettably the disk space used by the Celtx file(s) may well have been overwritten and only the FBI, GCHQ Cheltenham or the NSA could get your script back and I doubt if you could afford them.
Hi, sorry I haven't been monitoring this thread. But yeah, Ms Henderson is the only teacher we have because puppets cost heaps of money.
Regarding Celtx crashing - go to Tools>Options>General and there's an Autosave option, but by default it's set to Never.
Another safer way of working is by keeping a copy of your script in Dropbox, which you can get for free here: http://db.tt/JsrCy6n
If you work in Dropbox there's a copy saved on their servers as well as on your hard drive, and it keeps a record of all earlier versions of the file as well so you should never lose anything.
