Maybe I'm a freak. But I don't understand the interest in animals, my Smartphone is loads more useful and costs the fraction of a pet.

Maybe you could compare a phone to one of those rubbish pets like a snake or a fish. But proper pets are people! Haven't you ever had a kitty or a doggy?
