Hi,
My name is Todd and I started chatting here a few days ago before introducing myself properly - I have been greatly enjoying myself.
I like comedies that are satirical, experimental, mature, a little bitter or dark and things that have a surreal edge. I love stuff like The Goons, Goodies and Pythons from the older days, just about everything done by the "Comic Strip" generation of French and Saunders, Mayall and Edmonson as well as Ben Elton, Richard Curtis, Rowan Atikinson and Ruby Wax. More recently, I have enjoyed the work of the "Boosh" team, Catherine Tate, Ricky Gervais, Getting On and some stuff from Little Britain.
My very favourite comedian is Barry Humphries - undisputed genius of comedy - he's been my role model in comedy for years now. He is closely followed by French and Saunders, and Absolutley Fabulous is my favourite show.
Here is a little about what I do:
I am a professional actor and theatre maker based in Australia. My comedy partner and I perform our characters regularly.
Todd Barty trained in Acting at James Cook Universtity and works regularly in theatre as a director, writer, producer and actor. His professional experience includes devised and scripted works, interactive theatre and improvisation. He has been a regular member of the "ON the Spot" improvised comedy team. Todd has created the comic characters Xander Zanii and Lily Von Lieberslieder - two substance abusing, previously married 'contemporary performance makers'. The demented duo come from a privileged background but seek to lead a bohemian lifestyle, while retaining the luxuries that they are accustomed to. Their exploits in making 'relevant' and 'contemporary' work and connecting with the relevant groups are constantly hampered by their decadent, drunken antics, acid tongues, vitriolic arguments and their tendancy to offend.
So, talk to me... I get a bit argumentative but am actually quite affable!
