Fascinating looking at the What are you watching? and What are you listening to? threads, but with the audio visual media going digital, and so many new and specialised channels on offer, it has often occurred to me that even with 65 million or so inhabitants in these crowded isles, can all the hundreds of radio and TV stations possibly all have an audience 24 hours a day.
The various shopping channels never cease to amaze me. The amount of crap they continue to push out door 24/7! Surely we must be saturated with Egyptian cotton towels, sparkly naff bling, and cheapo watches. And yet if you happen to watch Bid Up, or similar, whatever time of day, the sales keep coming.
I usually listen to Classic Rock as music of choice but obviously every type of music is now catered for, and via the internet you're not just limited to UK stations, so that's got to be a diluting factor. ( Although you can argue the reverse for radio and say the whole world can find and listen to UK media if they wish. ) But when I scan the long lists of stations I always return to the same question.
At some point in time what are the odds of some DJ/presenter prattling on with not a soul watching or listening ... ?
