British Comedy Guide

Those little personal Eureka moments.

Have you ever realised that for years you've been singing the wrong words to a song you love?
Have you been saying a phrase wrong for most of your life?
Or have you suddenly realised that your favourite old pet didn't actually go away to the happy hounds fun home.

It's basically things that you didn't know, or got wrong for years and one day it dawns on you.

I used to love the movie Grease & also the Sitcom Taxi but it was many many years later I realised that Bobby Wheeler was Kernicki.

Oh & I used to have a girlfriend who would always use the term B - Day
When I think she meant field day.
"Oh they'll have a Bidet with that one"

Ha, didn't you ever tell her?

I've always enjoyed a little bit of rock trivia I heard that Lemmy (of Motorhead) confessed that he used to get so bored of singing their hit Ace of Spades, that for something like 8 years he used to sing "the eight of Spaces" instead.

Nobody ever noticed.

At school when writing stories, I used to write, "Once apollo time". Took the teacher a good few years to correct me. It was odd, why did I never pick up my mistake when reading other stories?

I used to think available was spelled avaidable for many years.

And that 'fat bottle' milk was called 'Grey Day' !

:P

I did have to in the end
But I was confused myself, At first I thought she must have meant D Day. took me a while to work out why it was wrong.

Laughing out loud

I used to think the ginger haired kid from Big was also the ginger haired kid from Terminator 2. It's not, found that out the other day.

I don't even remember a ginger kid in T2.

I used to think there was another thread similar to this.

Once apollo time my mother was the target of a cyborg from the future, who later decided to save me from another cyborg who was all melty n that. I was also friends with this ginger kid, who had a mate who reckons he became Tom Hanks for a bit.

I have no idea, emoticons or otherwise.

But I do have vague memories of confessing that for ages I didn't understand that "You Have Been Watching" at the end of certain comedy shows was a cue for showing who I had been watching, rather than a Big Brother-esque declaration that the BBC knew what I had been watching.

:D
