What are you watching on TV? Page 1,385

Was I talking about the shows quality, or lack there of? No.

It's fair enough. I don't like the idea of shows being shunted out like that, it's a bit disrespectful to all the people who made it.

You can't disentangle the two. The fact is it's not terribly good and this contributed to plummeting viewing figures, which led to it being bounced. I'd have more sympathy for it as a show if it was as good as The Wire, which is what the dingbat writer seemed to be implying.

Yes, the reason it got bumped was because it hasn't attracted viewers, but that doesn't mean that the act of bumping isn't in some way disrespectful. It would be horrible if the BBC went the way of the American networks, and kicked things out the way after a few episodes because it wasn't doing as well as they'd hoped. (Actually, maybe they already do, I don't know)

I do not like to see shows shunted, but surely the fault here lies with the Channel Controller for going ahead with scheduling Outcasts in this slot in the first place. Presumably this was the slot it was commissioned to fill, but surely by the time it was in the can it must have been obvious that it was a turkey.

Actually, is it really even a turkey? I haven't watched beyond episode one, but for some reason have kept tabs on the reviews, and have noticed them becoming more favourable episode by episode.

Great, Outcasts has been moved, just as it was starting to get interesting...

Were this week's episodes any better then Nil? I didn't watch Monday's cos it was Valentine's day. (and Fulham v Chelsea was on.)

I think, whatever the issues, the writer was still rather foolish to start spouting-off on Twitter. He should have found somewhere quiet and discrete to vent his spleen - the BCG, for example.

They do already do that, as with Trevor's World Of Sport. But they are a business and if a peaktime programme is attracting 2 viewers then you can hardly blame them for moving it. It's not a charity for Amatuer Writers and Their Ill Thought Out Programmes.

However, I don't really blame the writer. There are supposed to be producers and commissioners who sign off on these progs. What were they doing okaying such limp scripts in the first place? It's all very well saying it improved, but the point of episodes one, two and three is not for the writer to practice until he gets the hang of this writing thing.

They call falling below 3 million viewers a slump?

I know each channel has different levels of what they would call slumpage. But still.
3 million is LOTS.

A lot better, but that wasn't hard. More tension building and some decent action too.

Christ knows what it is - and my own fault for flicking onto this channel - but there's some blonde Irish bint who, whilst in conversation, actually says "O.M.G."...

"Come friendly bombs and fall on me
Or better yet BBC Three" :(

She went to the Fern Cotton School of Journalism.

There's some French film on. They're doing some cooking. Typical frogs!

Laughing out loud
