I was actually harassed by a lady at the mall the other day when I was asked if I could donate. I told her no and before I could explain why I am unable to she started belittling me and said I was uncaring. I then proceeded to explain to her in a very loud voice that I am a cancer survivor and cannot donate. In addition, I can only have blood drawn from one arm and it's very hard to draw from that arm now (after chemo and all). I am also anemic. The woman's supervisor came over and apologized all over the place and later I saw the woman leaving the donation area in tears. Sort of sad the lady might have lost her job, but happy that she won't be acting like that to anyone else.
Give Blood? Page 20
Blimey. What a silly woman.
I like to think that she has many cats at home and a large husband named Roy who really needs to give her a good plowing.
If people can, then they should really. Never know when you might need it I guess.
Ellie? Online on a Saturday night? I thought it was just us married folk?
I'm crap at giving blood. They can never find it. I went through hell when I had my op, They called one person after another to try to get some. Then this young male nurse from manila or somewhere stuck it in and drained out test tube after test tube.
Great Story eh. Sorry. Bored.
I know, I'm at my mums getting some space and we're just watching X-Factor.
I'm sorry about that.
The having to watch X Factor bit.
I've tried to give blood, but I have 'dainty veins', this rules me out of being a donor or porn star apparently.
Just here giving my quarterly update about giving blood (as I'm about to).
For anyone who can... maybe give it a go.
You get free ginger biscuits and squash!
Here's my now yearly update on giving blood.
They are urgently in need of doners... please, if you can donate - please do so.
It's so easy and you feel so good afterwards. DO SOMETHING AMAZING.

You've become very slack recently, Ellie.
Wish I could bring myself to donate blood. I had a few bad experiences with blood tests and drips been put in as a kid and while I'm ok having them done now if I have no choice, I just can't bring myself to choose to do it.
Also have a medical condtion that means my blood may not be suitable for donation.
Have to say it is very annoying when you've patiently waited the standard two hours in the hall to find out they won't take your blood. I gave up going because twice this happened to me.
So you could say there's some bad blood between you and them?
