Are there really a lot of Astrologer Millionaires out there?

I believe so.

If not actually UK millionaires then certainly people that do tolerably well from it (especially in America I believe) I have often read in the past about big stars who swear by this stuff. Those who supply anything to big stars charge more than a fiver a pop. You can be sure of that.

I'm not too worried about the coffers of big stars. In fact, good luck to anyone who fleeces the daft buggers!

Yes, people's vanity and insecurity and curiosity are exploited by them, absolutely, but any more so than by the cosmetics industry, for example? We live in a highly commercialised consumerist world.

I think the point about the cosmetics industry is a very relevant here in terms of its snake-oil credentials and complete lack of scruples. I agree completely.

Organisations like the BBC should not be encouraging, and even worse spending money on this sort of thing.

Something in what you say there, I'd go back to my fools and their money argument there and not shed too many tears, but it then filters down to those less able to afford it.

There are so many well documented cases of complaints to trading standards about and against so-called astrology phone-in lines, charging people who cannot afford it stonking premium rate charges.

Astrologers are twats. But who wants to live in a world where twats are banned off the radio?

Certainly not TalkSport. *guffaw*

It's a pleasure to watch that Newsjack Brain working.

Yes, that's my brilliant Aries satire brain, chugging away with obvious cobblers.

Asstrology is nonsense

I disagree, but the massive overuse of it in tabloids and magazines and such has indeed given it a tawdry, quacky image. And I expect some of its pactitioners are far from adept in it, really.

But it was once a very respected science which ran parallel to medicine. In fact the two complemented each other for centuries. Look how esteemed the science of Medicine has become. And yet it still makes a lot of big errors!

I think you must be a mental, Alfred.

Did we already cover the Dara story?

Don't think so. I remember them saying that at the time and wondered if there'd be any fallout over it.

Where's that story from again, zooo? Eh?

As far as I know, Chortle didn't invent Brian Cox.

And that's the quality of 'news' you want here is it?

'Cox'! *tee hee.

I miss you guys. ttfn

On balance, I'd have to say medicine has been more use to me than astrology.

That's because you live in the modern world. A few hundred years ago, it would very often have been a tough call to say which would be more use. Every court had its own astrologer as well as its own physik, to be on the safe side.

Medicine's come on a lot since those dark days, and as a result has pushed astrology, a sincere science, to the shady corner. I repeat, Medicine still has flaws, excacerbated by some poor practitioners, who aren't exactly underpaid or under appreciated by us.
