Wedding songs

A few friends of ours have picked some really odd first dance wedding songs. Can anyone top these genuine choices?

Carless Whisper - George Michael

Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe it's better this way
We'd hurt each other with the things we'd want to say

We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But noone's gonna dance with me
Please stay

And I'm never gonna dance again
guilty feet have got no rhythm
though it's easy to pretend
I know you're not a fool

Put your arms around me - Texas

So put your arms around me
You let me believe that you were someone else
Cause only time can take you
So let me believe that I am someone else

Fool (if you think it's over) - Chris Rea

Miss Teenage Dream, such a tragic scene
He knocked your crown and ran away
First wound of pride, and how you cried and cried
But save your tears, got years and years

Fool if you think it's over
'Cause you said goodbye
Fool if you think it's over
I'll tell you why
New born eyes always cry with pain
At the first look at the mornin' sun
Fool if you think it's over
It's just begun

Don't these just strike you as odd to have these lyrics sung when you've just got married? Eh?

Plenty of couples with crap taste in music have chosen Whitney Houston's cover of I Will Always Love You, the Police's Every Breath You Take or the theme song from Titanic.

People don't really listen to the lyrics, I think. They just like the music and think it sounds romantic.

Although you'd think, if they were using it for something important, they might give the lyrics a quick onceover!

I went to a friends wedding. The groom was called Ben

And of course the first dance song was 'Ben' by Micheal Jackson

That was about a rat. :)

:D

I've just looked at the lyrics and it's actually a great song for a first dance. Hopefully the groom wasn't a love rat. ;)

Think I'd have 'Down Down' !

:D

How's about inappropriate funeral songs? Someone I know wanted Elvis' 'You were always on my mind' for her husbands funeral.

Maybe I didn't treat you
Quite as good as I should have
Maybe I didn't love you
Quite as often as I could have
Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time

You were always on my mind

Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give me, give me one more chance
To keep you satisfied, satisfied

Maybe I didn't hold you
All those lonely, lonely times
And I guess I never told you
I'm so happy that you're mine
If I make you feel second best
Girl, I'm sorry I was blind etc.

It's a beautiful song, but I suspect she never listened to the verses too closely.

My grandad had Phil Collins at his funeral. In the air tonight. He was cremated.

I did a lol, and then felt a bit guilty, but that is funny Nat.

At least you didn't have to sit there!

God Almighty !

Fancy having to leave this mortal coil to the sound of Phil Collins !

:S

As long as she didn't ask her youngest son to sing it.
Oh wait! hold on.
Well it got vetoed anyway....
I imagine.

Did Grandad choose it to be funny? Or was it just a bad coincidence.

I don't know!!
