Becker Page 2

Watched another episode of this the other day and Shawnee Smith's timing is amazing. And all of it deadpan.

Loved Becker to begin with but the fact that he moaned about almost everything it became a little formulaic. Ie find something to moan at, now write about it. Perhaps it just went on a little too long. I do agree with the comments about some witty and insightful writing at times. Well rounded characters to. I wish I could write half as well. And if you didn't find Reggie sexy...well just look at the emoticon! Cool

Didn't strike me like that at all. Perhaps because I'm like it myself.

How come this isn't available on DVD? Is this the whole Paramount/Spin City thing all over again?

Paramount/Spin City thing?

For me, the first four seasons were prologue. It really got great when Chris (Nancy Travis) joined. She was so cheerful about everything while Becker was so miserable about everything. They complemented each other perfectly - more than Reggie and Becker did. The writers never bothered giving Reggie any character traits. I sarcastically refer to her as "Miss Personality". And she was such a hyperocite: She said Becker always moaned when all she did was companin about everything i.e her non-existant love life etc. She was just boring. And looked boring. She was more plain than British Airways. With Becker and Chris, there was chemistry. Becker hated the fact that Chris was always cheerful:

Bob: Where's Chris?
Becker: Probably out planting blue birds on people's shoulders.

Chris wasn't annoying cheerful. She recognise that there is a lot to be miserable about, but chose to have a sunny disposion. Unlike Reggie wore moaned more than Becker and then had the audacity to moan about him moaning.

Chris wasn't annoying cheerful.

And that is where you are wrong.

Reggie was superior to Chris in EVERY way. Chris just didn't work for me. At all. Spoilt the entire dynamic of the show.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Even if it's wrong.

Which is why I didn't delete your post. ;)

Series one will be released on DVD at the end of April. If I hadn't given up hope of a release and 'acquired' the show a few years ago, I'd almost certainly be preordering. :)

See Amazon product listing [p=http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/5173030/Becker-Season-1/Product.html]

Good show, still see re runs of the show here and there.
My favorite episode of all time for Becker was when he kept hearing banging from next door, got annoyed by it by banging back and telling them to shut up. He later found out the person was trapped, needed help and later died. It was just so funny.

Haha, I actually don't remember that one! Laughing out loud

Amazon are doing the first season for £14. Worth it?

Definitely.

As long as you use the link above to buy it.

I watched some clips on YouTube and it seems pretty slick actually.
