The Detectives Page 2

Jasper was all right 'cause he adapted his style to accommodate the alternative boom. But this point in his career comes around Rick Mayall's bottom.

We are supposedly "comedy" people so we read things into text that aren't necessarily there.

What?

Surprised this thread hasn't been added to for 4 years! I saw Hostage earlier, the episode whre Briggs and Louis are held at gunpoint by the escaped prisoner on Cup Final day. It was only the second episode and contender for best episode of the whole series IMO. Of course I haven't seen the other 20-odd episodes for while will need to rewatch them but the above episode is a definite contender IMO.

It's a great episode - I always find it a bit claustrophobic though; having them confined like that restricts the hilarious idiocy that they usually get up to. It's a difficult series to analyse though, as almost every single episode is of the same quality - there are one or two that are bit dud-y, and a couple that are absolutely wonderful. Everything else is just consistently great.

Yeah, the majority of them were brilliant, IMO. Loved this. Wished there was a complete box set though.

Isn't Robert Powell married to beautiful Babs?

Not sure what her name is but she was in Pan's People.

Doubt she's beautiful anymore. :(

I've got series 1 of this on DVD and enjoy it. Not the most hilarious sitcom ever, but good fun. The hostage episode is my favourite!

I love The Detectives. I think the scripts are great and I love the relationshop between the 2 of them. Robert Powell is quite sexy for his age too.

One was released - but for some reason only ever through Amazon, and has since been deleted (Peter linked to it above). Very odd.

Yep.

I remember loving the original sketches when they were on, but never fully warmed to the resulting sitcom. Haven't seen it since it was on, but I recall thinking it was only okay.
