Not Going Out - Series 4 Page 16

It is, and we are, yes!

(Although I'd put it in a more specific 'mockumentary'/spoof category, alongside The Office, Come Fly With Me et al.)

Anyway. I don't know - I think this series has at least been as good as the previous. Apart from a few slightly slow bits in this most recent episode, it hasn't disappointed me.

She was that temp who Brent was was protective of I think.

And further to a previous post I wouldn't call this similar to Bottom.
Bottom is pretty slapstick, and this is more Gag driven.

And I'd love to spend some time with some "Sitcom Purists".
If only to find out whether the League of Gentleman would qualify as a sitcom.

Pleased No 'its a local shop for local purists!'.

The more I watch this, the more I think of Bottom, as both are very silly and unrealistic; one uses physical slapstick and toilet humour while the other uses quickfire verbal jokes and laddish 'adult' humour around similarly token sets and plots.

Wave

Not a straight copy, no, but I've noticed a very strong Bottom strain in this series. The drugs episode was very Bottom with a Bottomesque cartoon violence ending. It was by far my favourite NGO episode yet, I think the show needed more action and physicality. Mayall & Edmonson's influence was all over that one, imo. Wonder if they watched it.

Very sweet ending this week. The ending felt like it was the end of the series, so I wonder what next week's one will be like?

I don't understand the following that this programme has? The gags are that awful they would not make it into Christmas crackers, the acting is so wooden trees are jealous and it should just stop. Now

Queue canned laughter

It's certainly not canned, Papa.

Each to their own and all that though.

I personally thought that was the best episode of this series. Got the mix of gags and storyline spot on, the story being comparatively clean and less silly. A joy from start to finish. :)

I haven't really watched much of this programme but I have caught the odd 10 minutes here and there. I think there are plenty of good gags and jokes but that Lee Mack should stick to what he knows best and leave the acting to the actors (same for Tim Vine).

If you like Tim Vine and Lee Mack then this show works on every level for good funny material.

I do like both of them but the not quite there acting detracts IMHO

Sure but the fact that both of them are so good at what they do means, for me at least, I can watch this show with my son and not feel uncomfortable.

Even the porn one?

I agree with this.

It was nice that Sally got some more lines. The show's meant to be about her relationship with Lee, right? We've barely seen her this series.

He's 16 and now getting into comedy like 'The Two Ronnies' which given that I feel uncomfortable watching comics like, say, David Mitchell and his nonsensical and over abundant use of foul language, NGO is brilliantly written with innuendo but without profanity so yes, even the porn one.

Ah, I was imagining him being about 6, so fair enough. ;)
