The Old Red Lion in Angel Islington is looking for new comedy acts to join them for "Not Now, Bernard" - where we invite sketch groups, improv troupes, musicians, stand-ups and more to reinvent their favourite children's book or story. We want as many new acts as possible, so get in touch!
More details below:
Introducing NOT NOW, BERNARD - a comedy night with a
difference at the Old Red Lion Theatre
Kid's books are better than adult's books: they're more fun, more
colourful, and less...well, adult. People might not take you seriously if
you crack out Tintin on the Tube, but classic children's books have
that universal appeal that makes everyone go all warm and fuzzy
inside. The way we see it: just because you have to grow old, doesn't
mean you have to grow up...
With that in mind: we're inviting London's best new comedy acts over
to the Old Red Lion to reinvent their favourite childhood books in their
own style: if you'd rather read Dahl than the Dostoyevsky, join us for
Not Now, Bernard every Monday night from March 7th, and give us
a comedy twist on a classic kid's book.
The possibilities are endless: we're after sketches, songs, silent
comedy, Powerpoint presentations - whatever you've got. The more
creative the twist, the better: dust off your favourite book, devise your
own version, and recreate your favourite kid's stories at Not Now,
Bernard. We'll also be capping each night with an Improv Challenge:
our guest improvisers for the night will be handed a randomly-chosen
children's book and asked to devise their own live version on the
night!
If you'd like to take part, drop us an email at
james@oldredliontheatre.co.uk and we can arrange a ten-minute slot
for you!
