What are you listening to now? Page 818

Was listening to the Decemberists...very nice.

My children hijacked the stereo and now I am being entertained by them singing and dancing to Allan Sherman songs.

More Duran Duran tonight. Even if you don't like them, I urge you to listen to "Secret Oktober", a rare gem which was the B-side to their 1983 single "Union of the Snake" (off Seven & The Ragged Tiger). Some of Le Bon's best lyrics:

Oh and "Late Bar", another hidden gem which you won't have heard unless you're familiar with their early B-sides:

Bad Lieutenant - Bernard Sumner's new band - is well worth a listen if you like New Order and Electronic. There's also a free download available on the band's website

Listening to a bit of Ian Brown's album 'The World Is Yours' which I like very much. Before that, I was listening to the very underated Stone Roses second album 'Second Coming'

The second Roses album has a ton of great songs on it; it seems it's only looked on so badly because it followed such a highly regarded debut, came many years after the first one so building expectation to unreachable hights, and it had shifted the bands sound in a big way, so those wanting more of the same instead got something different.

Agree with this. The first was superb, fantastic album and I instantly took to it. The Second Coming isn't like that, it's very different, you don't instantly take to it like the first, but once you do, you really get into it. Special mentions to 'Breaking Into Heaven' 'Ten Storey Love Song' 'Tears' and 'How do you Sleep'

Do still prefer the first though.

One of the most over-rated bands of all time - the Stone Roses. Really - what was so specil about them?

Listening to Radcliffe and Maconie who are having a cheese and wine party!!!!!

A couple of cheese jokes.

Q What do you say to tempt a bear out of his hiding place?
A Come on bear

Q How do you handle a dangerous Welsh cheese?
A Caerphilly

We agree on something? :O

I like them in a never-listen-to-them-anymore way.

Prefer the first one, but I'm more likely to actually listen to the second one.

Just quality in my view- probably will like them more being from the Republic of Mancunia, know the places they sing about etc. For me the second best band of all time behind The Beatles.

Ian Brown is offensive to look at, though.

How can you compare them to say New Order or Echo and the Bunnymen?

One of the catchiest, cheesiest '80s Australian pop songs to feature on the soundtrack to Crocodile Dundee II ever!...

Mental As Anything - Live It Up

Did we know how to party in the '80s or what? :)

Easy, they were better than both of those bands. (Bunnymen had some really good songs)
