Nuns On The Run

Starring Eric Idle and Robbie Coltrane, written and directed by Jonathan Lynn (Yes Minister), and made by George Harrison's HandMade Films.

Just watched this for the first time.

It's nice to see a film from/set in England. I've always had a soft-spot for British comedies. Lynn's latest directed film was Wild Target, which also had an Anglian charm to it.

Who else has seen it?

I have. It's f**king awful. :)

I only really remember the schoolgirls in the changing room. Apparently that scene was Eric's suggestion.

As a general rule of thumb, if it's not a Python project and it's got Eric Idle in it, you can be assured of its complete awfulness.

I used to like it as a kid. Ain't seen it for years, I have found memories of it though.

Huh? Very poor, made for young males, hoping for a bit of tit and flange.

Hug Tit and flange.

Bof. You're saying The Rutles and the South Park movie were awful? I enjoyed Nuns on the Run when I saw it upon its release. Long time no see, but it's on my shelf and I feel it would be more fun than watching Eric the Viking, Baron Munchausen, Time Bandits, Jabberwocky and Splitting Heirs.

I have fond memories of the shower scene and the lovely slippery wet nun-bottoms on display. :)

It's better than "The Pope Must Die"!

Those 2 films were really weird.

I mean they were so ernestly bad they were like a Comic Strip Presents piss take on bad English films made with US funding.

But they weren't they were just awful.

Renamed as "The Pope Must Diet" in America to avoid offending the religious right.

You would be deeply mistaken (maybe not so much in the case of Eric).

I thought it was pretty funny and had a frantic, exciting last reel.

The girl in it (Camille Coduri) was funny as Faith, the love-interest who can barely see without her glasses.

I remember it as basically harmless, predictable but enjoyable enough...
