This has been bugging me for ages... saw a stand up comedian on the telly last year. His act was basically a well spoken middle/upper class city type who belittled wherever he was (think it was Scotland in this case) but in a very funny way. Any ideas?
Who is this stand up comedian?
Miles Jupp?
I can see why you said him, but no that's not the one I was thinking of.
There's a guy called Will Smith (Not the Fresh Prince!) who does the kind of act you mention, too.
Simon Evans?
Can you give us any more clues?
What did he look like? Tall? Short? Young? Middle aged? Big hair? Bald?
Probably not this (I don't think I ever saw it on TV), but there can't be many middle-class English put-downs of the Scotch funnier than this Stewart Lee set:

I was going to suggest Will Smith too.

I have a question for you....
Michael Macintyre?
I have to draw the line somewhere
... and if you're in north London, and fancy seeing Simon Evans next week doing a warm-up for his latest tour... http://www.downstairsatthekingshead.com/YARNS2005.htm
