Episodes - Series 1 Page 18

I think tonight's episode of Episodes peaked at the beginning, and I think Tamsin has been in funnier bedroom scenes than that - the one in the radio version of Absolute Power where she makes love to Stephen Fry to the sound of the 1812 Overture springs to mind.

Maybe it does work better if you think of it as a comedy drama, but I'm sure if I'm going to continue with it.

I thought that this was jolly good again tonight. It's getting better and better for me.

I feel it still plays as a comedy drama but what genre it belongs to is (imo) actually pretty unimportant. It's just an enjoyable half hour.

And having seen Matt Le Blanc now in the main action for eps 2 & 3, I'm pleased to say that my earlier fears that his arrival might kill it for me have been totally unfounded.

Well done Auntie! That's two real hits in almost as many months.

The Trip and now Episodes.

"You've all done very well" as some old git used to say.

Better this week, just.

Pity Daisy Haggard's role is sooooo underwritten; she's nowt more than an extra really. Such a waste.

There may not be ANY jokes in the script but at least we can laugh when Episodes is referred to as a "sitcom". That's kind of funny. I do believe there are more jokes in an episode of Coronation Street (an episode of Coronation Street that only has one joke). I have watched all the episodes so far and I feel as though the writers are mocking us Brits... they must be if they think that we'll laugh when an electronic woman tells us we've left the door ajar. (On that note, if you listen to the sound of the word ajar it is actually funnier than Episodes). ;)

If Episodes was just a "drama" it would be okay but then, as others have said, there's no drama. There's no "comedy" or "drama" so I'm beginning to think the sitcom I'm writing stands a chance. Just need to get Jennifer Aniston on board...

Do you mean the show would be okay. Or that it would just be less annoying, as it wouldn't be misrepresenting itself (to some).

Love your sarcasm!

*New US Series* EPEE SODS: An English Workplace

EPEE SODS is the story of a happily married California couple, Bill and Hillary Pitt (Elliott Gould and Meryl Streep) who also happen to be successful writers and producers of a US comedy series called PECS - set in an LA fitness studio. The Pitts are enticed to the UK to recreate their award-winning show for Channel 4. Arnold Schwarzenegger is quickly dropped as the lead and replaced by Dylan Moran, who plays fencing teacher Sean Limey struggling with alcoholism and genital disfigurement in a tough inner city leisure centre. Matt LeBlanc (Rob Brydon) also has a small part. The show is renamed SUCKS.

I don't think Episodes is funny enough to be a sitcom as most of the "gags" (can't stop doing this now!) are awful but at the same time I enjoy watching it. I think I'm amused by how unfunny it is and I also like escaping to the brightness of LA. Every scene is light and a delightful contrast to the greys I see outside. Ooooooh also I think I just like imagining I am one of the writers and I'm living out my dream in the sun with Matt Le Blanc. Cool

Has this been mentioned?

The script's up. I like the show so hasn't changed any of my opinions but it may change others...doubt it though :)

Had a look at this website, and printed off a few pages of Two and a Half Men. It was very interesting, and has quite a library of scripts.
Cheers.

It has to be said that the second episode was around a gazillion times better than the first one. That and the third were a lot more enjoyable.

I still don't understand why Merc has signed up the sitcom and I don't care about the characters as much as I should, but I did enjoy these last two episodes very much and laughed lots.

I would watch that.

I liked Dan Tetsell's tweet: "Working on an American remake of Episodes where a US producer comes to the UK and the BBC let him do any old shit."

Laughing out loud

Matt Le Blanc's starting to remind me of a young Gordon Brown.
