British Comedy Guide

Sitcom/drama

I'm just wondering about your opinions here. It's an idea I had the other night when I was on a certain forum/message board.

The people on there are hilarious, so why not write about them for a sitcom or drama comedy. I'd think the material will probably be nearer a one off.

Basicaly you will see people sitting at the PC to start off then aferwards they will go about there lives after the consequences of what happens after the blog/post?
I'd like an opinion if this is feasable, and more importantly if it's been done before.

There was also a BBC3 sitcom pilot that did a similar thing although I forget the name. It certainly could be made to work as an idea.

Nobody is hilarious on forums. Storytelling is about show not tell - ish - so people typing isn't good. Write it see how you think - but I personally wouldn't advise it.

You could use devices to avoid having characters typing. Just needs a bit of imagination, Marc.

I'd avoid the typing thing as far as I can. More to do with their jokes and real life.
For instance we have a couple on there that went off for a bath together last night, as it was Java they had no idea what we were saying when they were away (nothing nasty). Just silly things but it should be workable.
That message board is full of clever and very witty people.

Is it the daily mail forum?

But on a serious note try and write it and see how you get on. I don't see cyber socialising as a very dramatic premise personally - but you know I am wrong about a lot of things. :)

You think someone's your friend, and then this.

Alright some are! :D

I wanted to hire a stenographer and get a pipe after watching Thoroughly Modern Millie - so you may well be right!

You're right of course. But it would be in the background realy to these peoples lives, and what they do. Basicaly they would be at a keyboard then see how it effects their lives, as in the bath situation I talked about earlier.
Probably a cast of 2 or 3 man actors and their lives around forums and blogs.

Lily Allen tweeted yesterday that she had a nosebleed for 16 hours, lots of jokes there straight away.
