And Modern Family, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office...

See, there's so much great stuff over there, I forgot those three, and I love those shows! I really think American comedy on TV is way ahead of us at the moment. I mean, just look at all those fantastic shows!

Oh, I watched the other one recently, Forgetting Sarah Marshall; any snippet with Brand in was good, the rest was weak.

Get Him to The Greek is infinitely better.

We need a new Woody Allen. Or Mel Brooks. I'd even settle for another Albert Brooks.

Can I just have Kelly Brook(s).

What do others think about the state of TV comedy; do you agree with what I and Griff seem to think, that the U.S. is showing us how it's down at the moment, or do you prefer the current slate of Brit comedy? Obviously I'm not slating all British comedies, there are plenty I like; and I love shows like Peep Show and The IT Crowd.

I'm watching more British comedy at the moment. Don't watch any of those you mentioned at the top, Matt. Really didn't get on with Better off Ted.

None of them?! Good lord!

Watched the first series of 30 Rock but never caught up again.

The BCG has a new power couple.

I think the US currently has more really good comedies, but it's a much bigger place with a lot more money! I don't think we're doing too badly compared, but our comedy seems to be angling more towards cheap and broad than the slicker comedies from accross the pond.

DO SO IMMEDIATELY. First series is weakest in my opinion.

There's so many to catch up on though!

I am looking forward to Pirhanna 3d. :$

What saddens me a lot more is the drama thing. I could watch US drama for ever - Sopranos, Mad Men, Battlestar Galactica, 24, Dollhouse, just a few that I've enjoyed recently - but I don't think there's a single British drama series I've wanted to watch for years.

You're right. The US has The Wire and we have, what? Silent Witness?

It's not a chore! I wish I hadn't seen them so I could rewatch with fresh eyes :(

I don't think it's just down to money though, it costs nothing to write a great script for example. Now obviously there are more channels and so more comedies are produced, but I really don't think it's just a case of sheer numbers.
