Maybe someone mentioned this, but Green Wing it is said was commissioned as a sitcom, but they wanted to make a sketch show, so they made its as little of a sitcom as they could and just sort of threaded the sketches together... well the first series at least.

I want to smash my TV in whenever Keeping Up Appearances comes on.
Never liked Open All Hours despite loving a lot of the work of Messrs Barker & Jason.
Last Of The Summer Wine makes me want to gauge my own eyes out.
