Voting for BCG Critique Sketch of the Year 2010 Page 3

Are you counting stuff in showcase?

Doesn't that run the risk of people voting for their friends rather than the best sketch? Like a clique?

Let's hope so. :)

Why not get Micheal Jacob to decide the winner? It's never going to be impartial with the voting on here. Plus, a pro would know what makes and doesn't make a sketch. I've seen some of his critique on another forum and he knows his chips.

He would definitely be great. But I wouldn't want to bother him, personally!
Luckily it's nothing to do with me, though.

To prevent cliques throwing the vote strict crtieria

i voters must have over 25,000 posts
ii not be a moderator
iii be unfunny arse pain who can't spell and beats jokes to death, enough with the f**king reediting already
iiib must have made atleast one self referential oke to show their humility

Or rape apes

But I was hoping that The Modderatti might be able to help decide how to decide as it were.

When I did it last year I got one sketch each picked by the entrants made a shortlist & sent it to 5 or so non involved people to judge.
So if that seems fair then we can carry on like that.

I suppose another way would be to just open it to votes from everyone on the site then they can just post their top 3 on the thread,

Whatever is fairest & easiest on the Mods would be the best bet.

As is clear, it's not that big a deal but it is a nice chance to bump up a few old sketches & celebrate some of the good uns.

Yes, I agree the mods should do it. Now where's one of my sketches? Whistling nnocently

How do you spell Shavey baby?

It seems fine to me.
But evidently some people think mods can't keep it impartial. :) Which could be taken as a bit insulting. But never mind, MODS DON'T HAVE FEELINGS.

Laughing out loud

I had forgotten all about that.

It would be good to have Micheal Jacobs judging,it would definitely entice more people to enter if they knew someone from the BBC would read their sketches.

Perhaps Mark could do some hob-nobbing at the comedy awards and get some celebs to cast their votes?

Otherwise I think the mods can be relied upon to be impartial, as would other members who don't post in critique, but who know what makes a good sketch, and will be unbiased.

What if each person enters two of their own critique sketches and then get an impartial judge to pick a winner. Its very hard to remember all the sketches you liked from other members over the year. I think it would be much easier for each member who wishes to enter to pick two of their own favourites and submit them. If they are then seen by someone in the BBC, all the better.

For me the main benefit of this thead was to see what I had missed in Critique during the year. Some good stuff. (I can't really comment on what's in Showcase, as nothing streams properly on my ancient Mac.)

But if we are going to do this, then I reckon we should have no more than two sketches per person. Steve draws up the list, and If more than one sketch has been nominated in the thread, the author contacts Steve with his choice; if he can't be bothered Steve chooses for him.

The list is then submitted to an independent panel of masochists, who make the choice, naming a top three.

For the losers there will be all the stultifying sense of rejection that comes from submitting to an open call sketch show, without the tangible reward for the winners of something worth putting on the CV. Just remember it's all a bit of fun kids...
