It is sad that the BCAs won't be screened live (if at all) this year.
I suspect ITV have an additional, hidden agenda for singling out this particular show. (Perhaps they are dreading Jonathan Ross' opening monologue, which is (quite rightly) bound to contain numerous references to Chris Langham. Some probably along the lines of the 'ITV gives awards to sex offenders. No, I don't mean [insert dodgy entertainer's name other than Chris Langham into the punchline].)
I think the producers should up-sticks and move to a channel that appreciates what is, for me, an unmissable annual event.
It might not be a bad idea to take it to a lesser-known freeview channel, as ITV have already consistently been shortening the running time of the live show for years now. (I remember the halycon days when, if I remember correctly, it ran for up to three hours.) The shortened running time has curtailed a lot of the unscripted and unexpected fun out of the show. A lesser known channel would still bring in very healthy ratings and ad revenues from loyal BCA fans.
In the meantime I suggest we all make a stand and refuse to watch any of ITV's sumptuous comedy output, starting with....?
Will the ceremony tonight be in front of an audience, and have all the trimmings the BCA normally have, or will it just be Jonathan Ross and fifteen increasingly drunk comedians in a backroom?
Will half of the nominees turn up? I can't see any of the international stars making the trip so they can be photographed on someone's mobile.
As I understand it, everything is supposed to be happening EXACTLY as normal. The tapes will still be delivered to ITV, and they still could broadcast it at a later date. It's just not going to be live.

From what I understand pretty much everyone is still turning up. After all, where else do you find a free bar on a Wednesday night?!?
One would hope that Ross really lets rip at ITV in his opening speech this year. He's been rude about them in previous years, that was when it was live and they hadn't done anything as wrong as this, so in theory it should be particularly good this year. Such a shame we can't see it!
Hopefully someone will mobile and YouTube it.
Only decent thing ITV has shown in the past 12 months is How London Was Built.
Losers.
Micheal Grade is a dick head . sorry for the ude language , i just couldn't help myself
I thought I heard from some where that itv are to change there mind,
Also if itv are not going to show the programme then why pay for right's ?
Because they're miserable bastards who enjoy peddling mind-numbing crap to the masses but can't cope with broadcasting something actually interesting, entertaining, or watchable.
(Apart from How London Was Built, as noted previously.)
Oh, and apparently they paid £700,000 to stop it going to another channel, not £70,000. Barmy. Utterly barmy.
