National Anthem to be changed!!! Page 2

I quite like the Italian national anthem because it's jaunty and seems to go on for days. And if it's a football match, they zoom in on some hot Italian women in the crowd while it's playing. For this reason, I also like the Brazil national anthem.

What's the "Human Traffic" national anthem... i think we should change it to that!!

The national anthem to be changed!!!!!!! Does anyone remember this brilliant Billy Connolly take on this very topic?

That is really funny, I've never seen that and how appropriate for today :D

We should adopt Radiohead's National Anthem. Its even got the same title... sort of :)

Lord Goldsmith is a c**t, so this discussion is pretty much nil.

If he wants "inclusive" though, I suggest he reads up about the sadly-forgotten verses, such as...

Lord, grant that Marshal Wade,
May by thy mighty aid,
Victory bring.
May he sedition hush and like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush,
God save the King.

Er... isn't that verse the reason for the story and why its suitability as a "national (UK)" anthem is being examined?

And Aaron, do you know something about the Queen's health that the tabloids haven't got hold of yet?

I'm betting its genetic, just look at Norfolk for proof :P

I reckon Land of Hope & Glory is more appropriate.

It's a better chune and we have to live in hope.

Don't think so. I've never heard it sung, only read about it in a couple of places, so think it unlikely anyway. According to Wikipedia (yes yes, I know), it's not really been used since the late 1740s anyway.

I expect he's talking about the notion that we should overcome our enemies. I mean, what a ridiculous suggestion.

The state the country's in at the moment, I don't think that we've got much else, really.
