This seems to have disappeared from my Microsoft Word, when I want to go into 'Word' now, the screen goes blank for a few seconds before it allows me in, also all the toolbars go from blue to a turquoise colour.
Is there any way to reinstall? Or are there free downloads? Would even that put it into Mictosoft Words?

'Mictosoft'? Isn't that a medicine which makes it easier for those with kidney stones to pee comfortably?

I use open office. It's free and looks pretty much identical to MS Office Suite.

Great joke for the medic fraternity.

Abbyy fine reader a part of Microsoft Word?
It's an Optical Character Recognition program for scanning printed pages into your PC so you can edit/copy/cut/paste the text.
Your problem with Word isn't the disappearance of that program.
Closer to home might be your PC memory or your video card.
Have you tried simply rebooting?

It's dark in here
Your best bet right now is to see if your video card needs its driver updating.
1) Click Start
2) in the Search box, type 'Device Manager'
3) it will appear in the search results, click on it
4) When the Device Manager window opens, a list of devices will appear. Left-click on the little triangle to the left of 'Display Adaptor'.
5) The name of your video card will drop down from 'Display Adaptor'. RIGHT-click on it and click on 'Update Driver Software'.
6) Click on 'Search Automatically'.
You'll need to be connected to the Internet.

My psychic powers are saying "She's on Virgin Media. Tell her to download the Digital Home Support Hub".
If they're right, get it from:
http://www.virginmedia.com/myvirginmedia/dhs/pc-healthcheck.php
It will do various checks on your PC.

That's brilliant, I didn't even know Virgin had that, it's done health check etc and sped this PC up and cleaned up etc, but I daren't try Words yet as I suspect that can't be rectified. Thanks so much...genius
I found Device Manager by right clicking on 'my computer' it then gives a list of what it controls, I right click on them and it just says ok. Is there anything else that would have 'spoiled' my Microsoft Words?
Which operating system do you have?
Windows 7?
Windows Vista?
Windows XP?
windows XP and they have stopped giving advice for that edition
I've had this PC about four years
Click 'Start'.
Click 'Control Panel'
Click 'Add/Remove Programs' (it should be among the first few icons on the top row)
Click 'Microsoft Word' - or 'Microsoft Office' if you got Word as part of that package
Click 'Repair' (Do NOT click 'Remove').
I tried that but it says... to repair insert the disc.... but I haven't got it. But thanks for all your help
